Afterre-imaging to a new HDD all I get is a black screen and a reboot???? Please Help

Thread needs solution

Hi there :)

I have a duel boot OS (XP and 7) and my old HDD has just stopped working however luckily I brought true image a while ago and I have the Images of both drives and the MBR, and I thought all I have to do is re-partition the new HDD to match the old one and restore the images. It worked perfectly for 7 and I can boot it without any problems but as soon as I select XP for the boot menu the screen go’s black and the PC reboots iv tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to work, douse anyone have any ideas what could be going wrong???

Thanks for your help, Ben

PS: I’m using Acronis Home 2009

Ben:

Can you post the contents of your BCD? To do this, start Windows 7 and go to an administrative command prompt (right-click on CMD.exe and choose Run as Administrator). In the command prompt window, change directory to your desktop (cd C:\Users\your_user_name\Desktop). Then enter the following command: bcdedit /enum all > bcd.txt, which will copy the contents of the BCD to the file bcd.txt on your desktop. Attach the file to your next post. Also, when running Windows 7, what are the drive letters of your W7 and XP partitions?
