Disk Imaging

Thread needs solution

I want to use Acronis soley with the bootable CD to image a hard disk. The OS on the disks is either Reahat Linux or Windows 2008R2 Server. My question is will the bootable CD delivered with Acronis PC work to image the Linux and 2008R2? Since I am not loading Acronis on the OS and just imaging the entire disk I would not think it would matter what is on the disk.

Hi John,

Just to check when you say "Acronis PC" you mean you are looking at buying a copy of "Acronis Backup for PC" which is essentially a Workstation edition of the Acronis backup software is this correct?

If that is the case, Acronis is licensed per host so if you have 2x 'servers' one with Redhat Linux and the other with Windows 2008R2 you will need to purchase an Acronis Backup for Linux and Acronis backup for Windows Server license to remain compliant with your licensing.

I understand the licenses and already have purchased 200 licenses of Acronis Backup for PC so licensing is not an issue. The question is can I image Windows server and Red Hat servers using this same software?

Licensing is the issue (and the only issue here, technically it will be OK). License for Acronis Backup for PC allows to use it only on machines with Windows desktop OS.
