Win XP My Documents & Access Denied on Win 7 machine

Thread needs solution

I successfully backed up my old Win XP machine, and it Validated, and it mounted images on the XP machine; but I bring that same backup to the Win 7 machine to recover a few individual folders and I find 1 users' documents are Access Denied (0 bytes) on the mounted image and they won't copy with file recovery even if I Select File level security settings and uncheck the Restore files preserving their security settings option. I attempt to copy a single folder over, and it says it's copying over to a new location, but the copied folder never appears in the new location.

You should be able to access these files/folders by taking ownership of them. Here's a link on how to do so in Windows 7:

Taking Ownership using the right-click shortcut did not work. That other link you gave just baffles my mind since I don't understand permissions. I don't think it's possible to take ownership of a backup like that.
