Disk errors - Bypass errors and still get an ATI Image?
ATI fails to create an image of a disk. Chkdsk is also hanging at stage 4 (8+ hours) so I susoect disk is beginning to fail or has a an unrecoverable sector. Does ATI really get that hung up on one spot? Is there a way to force ATI to continue with everything but the bad spot to see if I can get an image? The drive will boot to the OS fine and run, thought a bit slow. So its beginning to fail but still operational.

Hello Todd!
Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here.
The software might really fail to create a backup in case there are issues with the hard drive. In you case I would suggest you to run the sector-by-sector backup from the bootable media. You might also want to check "Ignore bad sectors" option. This should help.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you.

How robust is ATI Cloning feature, when there are bad sectors on the old drive?
My friend (in another State, unfortunately) has a hard disk drive which is failing. In the last 2 days, Acronis Drive Monitor has gone from reporting 6 reallocated sectors to reporting 99, but Windows still runs (well, crawls). He bought a new Seagate drive, and is preparing to try to clone the old drive to the new one. My question is: how robust is the "Clone" function in Seagate DiscWizard (a rebranded ATI), when it encounters unreadable sectors while trying to clone a disk drive? Does it keep trying, like ddrescue under Linux, or does it throw up its hands and quit (like ATI backup used to do, 6 or 8 years ago, and maybe still does)?
Note: I also asked this question here:
