How to clone SSD RAID0 (2x128) to SSD RAID0 (2x256)

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I want to know if it is possible to clone my laptop SSD RAID0 (2x128) to SSD RAID0 (2x256) with Acronis. And if yes, how to proceed.

Thanks for your help.

It is possible IF the Acronis recovery medium can see your RAID setup as a single volume. Some reasons why it would not:
- the RAID has been set up in Windows as dynamic disks, or through some software RAID. As the recovery medium runs outside of Windows, ...
- the disk controller that you have on your laptop is not yet supported by the recovery medium. A workaround for this is to create a WINPE based recovery medium, instead of the standard Linux one. If the WINPE one doesn't work out of the box, it is possible to inject drivers, but it is not an out of the box process.

The idea of the process is:
- to create a full backup of your RAID setup. This can be done in Acronis in Windows. There is typically no issue there, except if the disks are dynamic disks,
- to change the disks, and set up the RAID in the BIOS,
- to boot the computer on the Acronis recovery, and to recover the image.
