Move OS Partition to a New SSD
I would like to move my OS (Windows 7) partition (C drive) to another drive (Crucial MX100 512Gb SSD).
Ultimately I would like the OS to run on the new drive.
C drive is a 198Gb partition currently located on a 931 Gb disk shared with other partitions (D, E drives).
The target drive is 476Gb of free space; nothing is installed on it.
I would like to know what the steps are for moving the C drive to the new disk using the Acronis 2014 software that came with the new disk. Only the C drive will be moved off of the old disk to the new disk.
I looked at the auto option in the cloning tools, but it seems to want to put everything from the 931Gb disk to the 476Gb disk.
It would seem that I would use the manual process and then exclude the two drives that I do not want.
However I have seen others on this forum say that in this instance I should use a backup and restore.
I just want to confirm what the right procedure should be, and find out if there is a step by step guide for this using acronis 2014.

Thank you thomasjk.
At first glance I don't see anything that fits my particular scenario there, but I will keep reading as there is a lot to cover there. I did find this forum post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/10250
which seems very much in line with what I want to do. I'm just a little confused about whether there is a direct way to backup and restore the MBR alone or if the MBR is backed up and restored with the disk image. Still reviewing information to find out more about it.
Thanks again for your reply.
