Greetings,
Not a lot of information for us to go on.

2014_xBUILDx?

You only restored the C:\ partition?

This appears after you enter credentials?

Local User Account, MS Account or Domain Account profile?

It sounds like a user profile issue, but isn't clear.

***EDIT: Saw this as well.

You have another thread. Is this related, solved?

Thank you very much for responding.

I don’t know how to answer the build?
I restored only C: petition

Microsoft account did not like my password so I proceeded without it.
I don’t know how to answer local user account, etc.

I’ve never understood that with computers why when you do the same thing for the umpteenth time it finally works, but that’s what happened to the 1st thread. I found the target.

My most recent endeavor was to install the Windows CD and I accessed this through the Acronis Boots Media CD and I immediately installed an Acronos C: image of December 4 from an external USB hard drive, successfully according to the message.

When I closed the Acronos screen it booted to my name and email and “Preparing Windows”. After about 10 minutes it goes to a black screen with a movable mouse and that is where I am right now.

Thank you.

Thank you. So it sounds like I was correct about this issue being related to a user profile.

You can't proceed without entering credentials if a windows account has a password set. You will not be logged in without it.

It is also not always possible to restore a single partition, when that partition is the active boot partition and/or the partition depends on or has data that points to the System Reserved partition. This is probably not related here.

Do you have a full disk image back up of your system? All partitions?

If you don't have a way to log in, this or another user account, there isn't much you can do. You aren't having a start up issue, so the advanced start up options won't do much good, except for maybe the troubleshoot option, which would allow you to refresh or reset your PC. You have back ups of your data, right? If not, you should be able to mount the image you created previously and extract files from it after refresh. Bottom line you need your password to log in.

Thank you.

I’m still stalled at the “Preparing Windows” or after 10 minutes - waiting for the black screen. I found another password.

I’ve hit F2 multiple times as fast and as slow as I can trying to get into the set up menu because the last time I accessed the Acronis CD I had just changed the boot options back to having the CD drive 1st because I had changed them trying to access the installed restored image.

I’ve just discovered that control alt delete gave me a sign out option that allowed me to put in what I believe is the right Microsoft password.
It then takes me to a blue screen that says welcome with my name and email but I haven’t found a way to get off this page.

Any ideas as to how to get back into the Acronos CD?

Key was acct # although it said I could pass that up when I first hit that screen.

Thank You. I really appreciate your help.
Mark as solved.
