Clone Drive fails on Preparing...

Thread needs solution

So it detects my source OCZ revo scsi (PCI-Express)drive just fine. Then my destination is my new Samsung Pro 850. I select with the automatic settings and click process. It asks me to restart, which it does automatically.

The Acronic screen comes up on the reboot, and a get a Blue screen that has a window that says Preparing... and it does that for about 2 min with no progress and then restarts to the regular boot window.

I tried to find some log files, but didn't see any.

Look for cloning in the Acronis knowledge base (build you are experiencing) you could attempt using the trial version as suggested in the other "failure" above your entry answered by John N

It's build 6525, I'll look for trial version as well as the knowlege base. why would the trial version be any different?

I would say your problem is that you are attempting to clone a drive attached to a PCI port on your machine and that port is not initialized on reboot therefore the application cannot find the source disk. This results in a failed clone attempt and the application reboots the machine back into the Windows environment.

I would suggest creating a boot media disk/drive, boot your machine using that media and try running the clone from there. Be advised however that the boot media being Linux based may not support the PCI attached drive.

my take on John N's comments were relatively well founded just go with your best initiative

I think the PCI is the problem, on reboot it does go to that blue acronis screen. I just don't have time for this stuff. I only care about cloning my drive. First the Easy Migrate software, and now this doesn't work. After looking through all the logs and trying different things, I've probably spent 10+ hours try to get this to work. I'm just going to do a fresh install and hopefully I can get a refund.

Go get it you'll be out of the woods in no time flat! Honest Ninja Injun; NUF said unless its a PCI-E lane SSD then I guess you will need adapter PCI-E to SATA 3 to plug and play, If its PCI slot as in above set the BIOS for that slot in set up for a wake up even though that gets it hot all the time might need more cooling
