The right backup software for me

Thread needs solution

hi,
I'm currently using Clonezilla to backup my laptops but I need a more reliable way to create and restore images. Normally, my laptops have dual boot (Windows and Linux operating systems are present).

Which product is the right for me? Does Acronis True Image backup linux partitions too?

Another questions: do I need more than 1 licence if I want to backup 2 notebooks ?

Thank you in advance.

Any imaging software comes with quirks, limitations, etc. YOu will have to test Acronis with your settings. Make sure you test the recovery CD, and try to restore a couple of files, or, ideally, a full dual boot disk before you settle.

Yes you would need 2 licenses for 2 different computers.

Now that's a real first. I would have understood usability, ease of operation or nice gui, but 'reliable'? You better stay with Clonezilla then...

hi,

thank you for your support. I'm actually pretty satisfied with Clonezilla but couple of times I ran into issues that Clonezilla corrupted the MBR or Windows didn't start anymore... So I thought a commercial solution could be a long-term solution for all these troubles. But the first recommendation I got is: "try it and test whether it works for you". How can I rely on this software?!

Nevertheless, I will try the Acronis CD just to get a feeling whether it fits my needs or not.

Thank you.

I just downloaded the test version and created a bootable stick just to see that creating of images is locked in the test version. I'm wondering what does Acronis think to achieve with that...
