Permissions error with recovered data

Thread needs solution

I just got a new system, when I migrated to the new one I did an image of my old Windows 7 system using TI 2012 and then restored the data on my new Windows 8 system using TI 2013.

Every folder that had been restored gives me the following error when I try to work in it:
"a required privilege is not held by the client "

It appears read permissions are working as I can read all my files. MS Outlook can read my PST file too, but if I try to create a new text file in the same folder I get the error. I scan and save PDFs from my printer, QuickBooks will not open its data file.

I took over ownership and system, admin group and my admin account have full control in Windows. It seems I am missing a permission somewhere?

I believe this may have something to do with Windows UAC, but I do not just want to turn that security feature off.

I did happen across that article as well. Upon further testing the issue appears isolated to the folders within My Documented that I restored using TI. As far as the C: root as the link discusses, I can actually copy files there, I just have to say yes to UAC to allow the permission. I did follow the instructions in the link for my problem folders, I granted myself permission and took ownership. Everything but disable UAC entirely.

If I go into safe mode, I can create and delete files as I should. When I return to regular boot the issue is back. If I copy the files to another location and then copy them back the issue is not present any longer.

Any ideas?

I gave up, I just copied my data to an external hard drive and then deleted what I had recovered with TrueImage previously and replaced it with the copied data. Glad I was able to go back to my old system and was not recovering from a catastrophic issue. I have had 9 versions of TI, maybe it is time a new backup vendor.

To many issues with acronis now.
I am a long time user.
But the lack of support for earlier versions, the frequent problems with acronis .
The lack of support, maybe it is time to look to another program.
Rather that consolidating the features they seem to be more interested in changing the GUI.
I want what ever version I buy to work easily.
I don't like that earlier backups, made with older versions aren't supported thoroughly.
I cant get an answer to to a problem. what use is acronis then?

Since you were able to pull the files off the backup, it sounds like acronis did have compatibility with its' own backup.
I'm not sure officially this is acronis' fault but rather security in windows itself. The files belong to a different internal userid.
As long as the files weren't encrypted, I would still like instructions on who to get the files back and establish the current id as full owner.
