Cloning no longer works. Help!
Bought a win7 pc in 2013 with a 1TB hitachi drive in it. Later that year I bought an internal Western Digital 1TB, and downloaded True Image WD edition. I cloned the hitachi onto the WD and installed the WD as my main drive. Kept the hitachi stored away as a backup. Twice since then, every 6-9 months, I connected the hitachi and once again cloned the WD to it. No problems. Today I went to do another clone, but it doesn't work. I tried 4 times (with True Image build 14.184 - the same as had worked fine in the past). Each time, once you go through the setup stuff and it says it has to reboot to continue, the computer just reboots into windows to the desktop and thats it. It refuses to launch into True Image upon reboot and do the clone.
Does anyone have any ideas WHY or how to fix it? I'm sure some windows updates have been installed since I last cloned successfully, but who knows exactly what. It's also possible that I may have disabled a needed windows service - are there any windows service dependencies for True Image?
Any help greatly appreciated. Also, I did just try downloading the current version of True Image WD from western digitals site, but that one doesn't work either!! The newer version gives me the error that I don't have a western digital drive connected. Well, yes I most certainly do - it's the boot drive and clearly shows up in hardware properties as model WDC-10EZ....etc.
