Acronis 2014 backup issue

Thread needs solution

Hi Guys

I have been running Acronis 2014 incremental backups for about 12 months with no issues till now.
When I go to run a backup now it seems to be like validating everything and calculates a run time of days !
I checked the backup settings and made sure validation was not on
It looks like it cant see the previous inc backups or something
And just last night it started creating a new FULL backup
Can you make anything of this behaviour ?

Appreciate your help
Chris

Hi there,

Does the software behave like the backup scheme that you have set up? If no, did you make some changes in the backup scheme, or the destination?

Hi Pat

I have used incremental scheme from day 1 and it has worked perfectly
No changes that I know, destination is an external HDD
I may have to check the logs to see if they give any clues
Cheers

So tonight I updated to the latest build for 2014
Ran the backup again and still it is backing up data already backed in prev backups
Hence why it is due to finish in 2 days
Why isn't it looking at the prev inc backups and only backing up new data ?

How many incrementals is tied to the older Full? Understand that if you have many many incremmentals, if you needed to restore the most recent, the restore would need accesss to all prior inc after the full was created. So if the inc being restored is inc_ S75, the prior 74 backups must be available and readable. One reason for the new full be a problem with the disk on one of the last inc. YOu might want to consider doing a disk check for errors and start a completely new backup task using automatic cleanup so the number of incrementals is of a reasonable number so your full backups happen more frequently.
