RAID 0 imaging

Thread needs solution

I currently have two HDs set up in a RAID 0 configuration. I want to upgrade my computer to a single SSD to replace the RAID. Will Acronis TI allow me to image a RAID 0 drive? I haven't purchased Acronis yet - want to be sure it's the right product.

Thanks,
Greg C.

If you have set up the RAID 0 in the BIOS, there is a high chance it will just work fine. The real test is in fact for the ACronis recovery medium. When you boot your computer on it, you will need to see your RAID 0 as a single volume/disk. Then, you will be sure it can work.

There are 2 versions of the recovery medium. One is Linux-based. The other, of which creation is slightly more involved, is WIN-PE based. If the Linux version doesn't show your your single RAID 0 Volume, the WIN-PE is very likely to work (that is a driver support issue).

You can typically restore a RAID0 2-disk set up to a single disk on the same connectors as the RAID0 disks, and even switch to AHCI instead of RAID SATA setup in the BIOS on more modern computers.

If you RAID0 is in fact a Windows Stripped Volume, I never tried, but 2015 is supposed to be able to backup and restore it properly, even to bare metal disks. The caveat is that restore operations are highly recommended to be done from the recovery medium, so I am not sure how this will pan out from Windows in this case.

You can buy the product and test. There is a 30-day support and money back guarrantee period.
