Acronis Backup Advanced for Windows Convert to VM

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have a windows server which is being backup by Acronis Backup Advanced for Windows server. In the backup plan i have configured to convert the backup files into a VM on my VMware host. I have configured vCenter integration in the Central management console also installed a Acronis Virtual Appliance in my vSphere environment.

Every time the conversion job failed with following errors:
Command 'Converting backup to VM 'Backup_of_TestCA.icliq.com'' has failed.

Do I need extra license in order to convert it to a VM?

Thanks

Hello Eddy,

In order to work directly with your VMware environment (backup, restore of VMs etc.) you will need a "Acronis Backup Advanced for VMware" license. 1 license per host, with no limitations on hardware or the number of VMs being used on this host.

With the standard Windows Server license, you can still convert to VM formats, but not directly to the ESX host. You can check our online documentation for details, but these formats are supported for all agents:

  • VMware Workstation
  • Microsoft Virtual PC (includes Windows Virtual PC)
  • Citrix XenServer OVA (only during recovery to the "New virtual machine" destination)
  • Kernel-based Virtual Machine
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RAW format)
