Restore to virtual machine

Thread needs solution

I just bought a Dell XPS 8700 running Windows 10, 64 bit. My old machine ran on Vista, 32 bit. A very important program I use for my profession is not being supported anymore and Vista is the last OS that it can run on. Can I create a virtual Vista machine on the new computer and restore my backup to that virtual machine using TI

2015?

Not easily. I recommend Paragon Drive Copy 15. It will copy your Vista system and create the VM for you in one easy step.

Thanks, Paul. I will check that out. Am I understanding correctly; it clones the HD, creates VM, then transfers data into VM?

Yes, and it supports Oracle Virtual Box and VMware Workstation/Player. If you need Microsoft Hyper-V, you will need the more expensive Paragon Hard Disk Manager.

I should mention I've tested with the Professional version of both programs.

One last question, Paul. I suspect that the master boot record on my Vista HDD may be corrupted. If so, will the Paragon program still be able to clone it? Thanks for all your help, Paul.

In that case, you should use Hard Disk Manager. It includes a boot coorrector that should fix the problem.

Thanks Paul. You were very helpful.
