Incremental backup failed - 'the device is not ready'

Thread needs solution

I have a client with Acronis PC backup installed on a Windows 10 computer. It's only a recent purchase and they let the trial expire. Together we purchased the product and reinstalled because they were experiencing errors (possibly due to expired trial). After reinstallation, I successfully ran a full backup. The schedule has a number of incremental backups with a full backup once per week. After running the successful full backup, the three subsequent incremental backups have all failed with the follwing:

Any ideas on what might be causing this error?

Hello Rob,

The "device is not ready" error is a standard Microsoft problem (error code 0x80070015) that can have any number of causes in different situations. For example, if your "F:\" volume is located on a USB disk (you are creating backups there?) and there is a USB conflict.

I would start with checking the Windows event logs for details of this error.
