Acronis scheduler 2 interferes with USB

Thread needs solution

I wonder if I am the only one having the problem with a printer stopping in the middle of a print job, or with a backup stopping regularly while using USB 3-ports under Windows 10. After searching and testing for hours I found out that using the task manager to stop the "acronis scheduler 2" task (the hard way) made all the difference. Suddenly all print jobs ran smoothly as ever before, and the backup job continued and ran fluently. It is however somewhat annoying to manually cancel the mentioned task after every machine start in order to be able to use the printer, not to mention the backup. By the way, even copying files from the external hard drive (USB 3, 2TB) to the computer or vv is corrupted by the scheduler... Is there a patch available somewhere or a useful hint to solve this problem? Thanks.

Harry, I can confirm that you are not the only person to report an issue like this - I was able to find one other similar report in post https://forum.acronis.com/forum/13053 but unfortunately there was no response or remedy to that other report.

I personally have not come across any issues in this area being caused by the Acronis Scheduler 2 service.

At this point there are several suggestions to start with:

Do you have the latest build for ATIH 2015 installed - build 6613?  If not, then please install this.
If you have the latest build already installed, then I would recommend trying a repair install for starters - this is simply to re-install the ATIH 2015 from the downloaded installation program file - get a new copy from your Acronis Account to be double certain you have a good copy.  When the install starts you will be give the option to Repair or Uninstall.

If the problem persists after doing the repair install, then I would suggest first collecting Acronis Report data and attaching to this forum if possible, you could hit an upload limit if the file is larger than 20MB - this would help us to look at what else is happening for this problem.

The next step would be to perform a clean install of the product, by uninstalling, running the Acronis Cleanup tool (link below in my signature) and then installing again.

It is possible that something is conflicting on your system that the above actions can resolve - please ensure that you perform any actions using an Administrator account to ensure correct privileges are set etc.

Steve, thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have build 6613 installed, I am Admistrator with all privileges set, and the installation was done with a clean copy directly from my Acronis account just 10 weeks ago on my new machine.

I will try the repair option next, due to a tight schedule it might take some time before I can start with that. Will come back with the result...

Finally, success!

However, after using the repair option I got the message of successful repair. Nice, but now the program was not accessible anymore, neither start nor de-installation. Had to delete all the files manually and then ran a registry cleaner. Thereafter I downloaded the installation program file again and made a new and clean installation. Now both, the program and the USB-ports work fine.

Steve, I didn't exactly follow your recommended path but removing some old files and registry entries seems to actually resolve the problem. Thanks again, because without your help I probably wouldn't have dared to do all that. Maybe you are interested in some messages from the program? See attached...

Harry, glad to hear that you have resolved the problem, even if it was in a more round-about way with needing to re-install after cleaning up program & registry data.  Hope all stays working OK for you with no more issues.

Best wishes, Steve
