No Acronis Recovery Tab with 64bit windows?

Thread needs solution

I have just run the upgrade over 2013 and everything is smooth and it should be, Takes old backup schedule and files registers and can access the files in back up set.

Actually, I did quick run on 8.1 (my test system) and looks and working OK, so far. ( Acronis says it is official certified for 8.1 )

I don't think the initial problem has been fixed in the latest version. I am running ATI 2014 most current version on Windows 7 64-bit. On the properties screen of individual files I do have the Acronis Recovery tab but I checked a file that I verified thru the ATI 2014 GUI has 12 versions and the Acronis Recovery tab reports no versions.

Hi wags1,

could you please post here screenshots illustrating your steps?

Thank you in advance!

Hi wags1,

I've just checked it on my Windows 7x64 and everything works fine for me.

Have you UAC enabled? If so, have you allowed the program to make changes (standard UAC prompt)?

Thank you,

Anna

I installed latest version on my Win8.1 system and the problem has been fixed.

Hello wags1,

I've checked also on Windows 7x64 with disabled UAC and it still works perfectly for me.

Could you please provide us with a remote access to your machine, so that we can investigate the issue?

Hairy Scot, glad to know that Update 1 works for you as expected!

Thank you.

Has this been fixed ? I have the Tab but when I go to it there is nothing there. The tab is blank. Using Win 8.1

As far as I know, it is fixed and I have no issue with windows 8.1.
This tab need to have registered backup already exist I believe.
Maybe Anna can confirm this?

ATIH 2014 This really does not appear satisfactory behavoior with Win-7 Pro 64-bit. No backups stored on other than the main C-Drive are visible in the backups list, so facilities such as backup/restore etc consolidation are not available. The backups are made but not visible on secondary drives or NAS devices. Really needs a new release. Was it tested/approved before sale? The 32-Bit version is fine.

Hello Everyone,

Ben, you are right, the initial issue in this thread was fixed (no Acronis Recovery tab in the properties window of a file at all) and solution in available in build 6614.

Joe, Jeff, Acronis True Image can show in Acronis Recovery tab only the files that are stored in backups and their versions on all local devices. Basically, this function has the same limitation as "Searching" within the program:

- Acronis True Image 2014 cannot perform search on network shares, Acronis Cloud, and devices that are recognized by Windows as Devices with removable storage.

- Please note that Acronis True Image 2014 does not search files in encrypted and password-protected tib backups nor in the password-protected Acronis Secure Zone. In addition, the program does not search files in zip backups created by Acronis True Image 2014.

Thank you.

I too had reservations about allowing Acronis tech support (apparently in India, or thereabouts) to have remote access to my computer. It created problems a described later.

I have internet access on a physical switch that I can throw at any time to disconnect the CAT5 connection to my computer. During the remote access, I had my finger at the ready.

My problem was Acronis 2014 was interfering with the operation of Windows Explorer. Anytime a copy or delete was attempted in Windows Explorer, a balloon came up saying the Explorer had committed an illegal operation and had to shut down. Uninstalling Acronis 2014 eliminated the problem (case #02085610 ).

The first tech rep: Atul Kumar, using remote access managed to lock up my computer completely. The only escape was the reset button, which obviously ended that chat session.

I got my computer up again and cleared out the temp files. I also ran the registry clean up tool in Zone Alarm. Both these actions were suggested by Atul in his followup email. These operations did nothing to solve the problem.

On my next chat with tech support (Utpal), using remote access, he managed to drag contents of my directories to the desktop. He was unable to solve the problem. He was going to send some software to assist with problem solving.  That software never came.

I was not all all happy to have my directory contents dragged to the desktop. I had to go to my mirror image of C: to determine from where they had been dragged, and move them back.

Based upon these two negative experiences, I don't view remote access as benign.

Acronis 2014 is also buggy, in that it doesn't cleanly uninstall. It leaves something behind that prevents Acronis 2010 from being reloaded. I had to wipe the hard drive by using restore from an image I made before attempting the Acronis 2014 install.

I think Acronis 2014 needs a good dose of Raid to remove the bugs. I'm running WIndows XP SP3

b. murdock, I suggest to collect crash dump of explorer.exe (using procdump - http://kb.acronis.com/content/27931 ) then rename "C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\tishell32.dll" (And tishell.dll too) to some other name so that it won't be loaded by explorer. I suspect that it's the TI shell extension that works incorrectly and causes explorer to crash. When explorer is running, you won't be able to rename this file, so you need to open command prompt, kill explorer.exe in task manager, rename the file in the command prompt, and restart explorer (from task manager 'run' menu) again.

Hi

Sorry to re-open this, but looks like this problem is back in True Image 2016

I just did my first install for a client the other week, and was giving a walk through of how to use it

I went to the properties of a folder and the tab was missing

I left it a week and went back, ensuring it had done several backups and again the entire tab was missing

this was a Windows 7 64bit machine

Can you get 2016 fixed like 2014 supposedly was and clearly this is a feature needing proper testing every release

I look forward to an update

Tristan

Hello Tristan,

Thank you for your posting! The issue is known to our development. According to the development team, the root cause of the issue has been found, but the fix would require some time. I'm afraid, we shouldn't await it soon.

Thank you,

This issue appears to be every single year!!! 2014, 2015 and now 2016 from the above posts.... why are your developers not getting this right on day 1

It is an advertised feature

it makes your product not do what it says on the tin!!!

I am an authorised reseller of your product, and i'm supposed to seel something that is fault, and you are telling me a fix is not going to be coming soon, by the time you fix it you'll be on TI 2017, will your developers ensure that will work from day 1 as it seemingly doesn't each previous version up until 2013 where your product worked properly

how am I supposed to sell a product that I know misses a key feature

Do i need to start selling a different backup solution as Acronis seems to be going downhill on its sales support?

Your answer is not adequate and I will be rasing this with my account manager!! no wonder all the distributors have stopped selling your products!!

...simply because they rather polish the UI and remove useful functions than working on real new features or get this product a bit more stable.

OTH they release new versions each year w/o any new features and what's more you have to learn the UI each year from the beginning.

Because of this I've switched to Macrium Reflect with a four-user license and removed that Acronis crap from my computer once and forever. I've got many Acronis licenses you should know, guess about 10 to 15, but I certainly do not regret this switch.

After half a year now with Macrium I can say that it is lightning fast and so far I did not see any issues!
