Backup files don't show up in explorer

Thread needs solution

I just got a new laptop with Win 10 and secure boot.  My old go-to backup program (Apricorn EZ-GIG) will not boot this new laptop, so I got a copy of TI 2016.  I like booting from the CD when making a backup because it jjust seems like a cleaner way to do it.

I've tried backing up to an external HD and to a large flash drive.  It seems like the back-up runs just fine, but when I re-boot into windows and go to look for the image files, they don't show up in explorer.  The drive looks like it has used space for the files, but the files aren't there.  And if I got to the restore function in True Image the archive files don't who up there either.

Has anyone ever seen this before?  The laptop in question is an HP with Win 10.

WHen you boot with the recovery medium, it is possible that the drive letters are not the same as the ones in Windows. It is possible therefore that your backup files are on another disk...

I haven't come across this issue previously but I wonder if there may be more than one drive attached to your laptop?  When booting from CD / DVD drive letters can change from what you would normally see from in Windows.  Have you checked for the image files on any other drive?

I would recommend trying a backup from within Windows 10 using ATIH 2016 as that would give you a backup task log file that can be reviewed to see what is happening if these issues continue.

When booting from CD / DVD or USB sticks there are no log files that I am aware of.

Please download a copy of the Log File Viewer App from the forum to help with reviewing log files.
