Automated Validation Fails

Thread needs solution

I'm using ATI 2016 Build 6569.

I created separate nightly backup and validation tasks and and the validation runs after each backup.  The validation log tells me that it cannot open the backup (and fails).  However, if I go to the nightly backup profile and run the validation from there (click on the down arrow by the Backup and select Validate), the validation completes just fine and the log indicates that the manual validation was a success.   Why wouldn't the automated backup be able to run to completion against the same backup files?

I've attached screenshots to demonstrate what I have described.

Some systems when validating immediately after a backup to an external device exhibit this behavior.  Not sure why exactly but the workaround you have already discovered, run the validation at a later time manually.  Not exactly what you wanted to hear I'm sure.

Would this be something that the engineers SHOULD address?    If you are going to forward this to them, you might also mention that when the scheduled validation runs (and fails) the email notification that I have set up doesn't fire so I get no notice of the status of the job.

Ron, this is just a user forum with no guarantee that the Acronis engineers or support team will see your post on this issue.

Please use the Feedback tool within the Acronis GUI in the Help section to submit your comments directly to Acronis development along with any additional information you want to include.

The developers are aware of problems with validation scheduling information being lost from tasks in the GUI and also that email notifications are not being sent for validation tasks - this was confirmed in another user post in the forum recently.

OK thanks for the clarification Steve.

BTW, for other readers, I brought the scheduling issue forward in another post.  The issue in that post was:

ATI would lose the configured validation settings.  I was told that while the schedule appeared to be lost, it would still perform the validation.

The issues above are different issues with Validation.  1) The scheduled validation doesn't run to completion for unknown reasons and 2) Notifications set on a validation job are not emailed like they are on the backups.

I'll send a comment on the feedback tool.  The last time I did, I got push back that I am no longer under support, which I wasn't requesting.  It kind of seemed like they really didn't want to know about bugs in their product.
