DD11 OS Selector problems

Thread needs solution

OK Two problems with OS Selector under DD11.

Firstly and most important, when installed Windows 7 says my copy of Windows is not genuine. Removing OS Selector and going back to standard boot and everything is OK.

Secondly I have 3 disks:

Disk 1: Windows 7
Disk 2: Windows XP
Disk 3: Ubuntu server 9.04

With OS Selector installed, each time I boot I get a new Linux entry in the menu.

First time I get W7, XP and Linux. Next reboot I get W7, XP, Linux, Linux (2). Next time Linux (3) gets added and so on. Deleting the new entries just starts the process all over again. It also overides the default boot OS and forces the "latest" Linux as the default.

OS Selector doesn't look to be too good at the moment.

I don't remember reading anything about OSS causing a "genuine" problem with Windows 7. Are you installing OSS from Windows 7 or from XP (or both)?

The redetection problem is a long-standing bug. Hopefully, Acronis will get it fixed. Probably the only thing you can try is to change things around a little and see if it will stop (different GRUB version, GRUB on partition instead of MBR, GRUB on MBR instead of partition, etc.).

HI,

I installed and uninstalled OSS from Windows 7. Tried installing it again and same problem, Windows not genuine. Removed it and Windows is happy. It would ne nice if there was a way to disable auto-detection and freeze teh OSS menu entries

Hi,

I have also seen the "Not Genuine" message and having restored a pre OSS image all was OK. I have now reinstalled OSS and I have not seen that message again (so far!) but it did happen.
