[SOLVED] ATI Home 2009 : Windows XP SP2 does not boot
[SOLVED] I contacted the German support and they told me that this is a known issue with the build 9769. So they gave me build 9646 and everything works fine.[/SOLVED]
Hello
It seems to me that this is a very strange error, but lets start at the beginning.
My system: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 aka Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.080814-1242 : Service Pack 2 on a Dell Vostro 1500 NB.
I had a trial version of ATI True Image Home 2009 installed on my system, this trial version had the build no. 9601. Now I decided to purchase the full version, and I got to download build no. 9769 Before installing the new version, of course, I manually uninstalled the old version according to http://www.acronis.com/r/support/en/kb/1090/ATIH2009_WinXP.htm
And I did everything as described there!
Now, after installing the new version, I got serious problems. After the installation, it asks you to restart. Said and done. But the problem is now that Windows hangs everytime during the startup screen (i.e. the Windows Flag with the blue XP Pro status bar wanders infinitely). No blue screen or something, just no more action. And I CAN enter the safe mode, from where I can also start the recovery console and make everything undone so that my system boots correctly. But thats all.
What could be the problem? Have I unwillingly deleted an important registry key? Can't dream of that..
Thanks!

Hi, I am having the same problem - i.e. XP hangs on boot after a successful install of TI Home 2009 build 9796. I am in the US. How do I try out an earlier build as mentioned here?
BTW is there a way to contact support via email? I seem to get a chat option only, which tends to take a lot more time.

Hello I have the same problem XP scrolling bar that never ends when I installed 9796. I'm in the US. I just uninstalled after I did restore to C: Drive. Now I have installed the original from cd-rom but I keep getting the BSOD when I try to back up my D: which is about 95gb. I back up to a seperate hard drive in my system. C: drive backups fine. Just not the D: Drive. I have an Abit NI-8 with the hated Nvidia chipset and drivers. I also have Iolo's System Mechanic installed. I'm afraid that might be the cause of my BSOD. Not sure how to disable System Mechanic. Maybe stop all the services?
Good luck everyone.
Thanks

Hello, I see the same problem on two different Thinkpads. I reverted back to build 9646, but I would not call this problem 'solved'. Any insight about the real reason why 9769 would not install? Support recommended to install the previous build.
