Can not uninstall Acronis DD 10 build 2241 within Windows 7 HP 64

Thread needs solution

I upgraded from Vista HP 64 to Windows 7 HP 64.
About a week before I started the upgrade I ran the update for Acronis DD 10 b.2241.
Right now, because I can´t uninstall DD10, it´s impossible to update my TI 2010 to it´s latest build
6029. That means I can install it, but It just won´t start. No matter Updated or if I uninstall TI 2010.
All I really thought thou was, that this update for DD 10 was for Windows 7, cause for years there was none, and then shortly before the final Release of 7 there it was.
Right now I feel really bad.
Can someone please help me on how to use the uninstall routine, cause I´ld like to get rid of that crap.
Thanks in advance

Maybe my quote is wrong, and it has something to do with that new update (Acronis TI Home
2010).
It just seemed to me like the impossibility to uninstall Acronis Disk Director, has something to do with the disaster installing the new TI build.
Whatsoever the old build TI 2010 5.055 runs fine.
But still I want this DD 10 out of my Windows 7 please, (without destroying this charming OS).
Please help

Just to make sure, before I upgraded to Windows 7, i used the windows upgrade advisor (final), and the advisor didn´t complain anything concerning Acronis Disk Director.
Acronis did this, and so I´m hoping for a support.
I used Acronis Software for many years, that means bought every year a new True Image and was always happy with them and now this, is this all a stupid question from my side? I don´t think so!

Hallo Herr Wirth,

Hello,

There is another thread that is thrashing this same type of incompatibility issue out.

As to your deinstall problem I had an issue with another program after upgrading and did the clean deinstall steps recommended by MS, sorry I don't have the KB link handy. After the clean deinstall I was able to fix my issue.

The fix that worked for me to run DD 10 was to go to your Acronis account web page, go to your registered products and download the ISO image. I was able to burn a bootable CD and resize my partitions with no issues. I am running Win7 32bit Professional but it shouldn't matter since the disk is still NTFS.

Good luck.

 Hello all,

Joachim,

It looks like the only way out is to uninstall the program manually. Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 doesn't support Windows 7, that's why we don't have the respective article on how to remove the program manually.

We have the appropriate instructions for Windows Vista, you can use them to cleanup the system:

1. Uninstall Acronis OS Selector:

- Run Install Acronis OS Selector from Start->Programs->Acronis->Acronis Disk Director and choose to Uninstall it;

- Choose the operating system to boot after the uninstallation or let Acronis OS Selector choose the most suitable one and follow the wizard instructions.

2. Remove MS Installer configuration by means of Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. You can download the Windows CleanUp utility, install and run it;

3. Remove Acronis SnapAPI drivers:

a) Delete snapman key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

b) Delete snapman string (only snapman string, do not touch other items) from:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} -> UpperFilters

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} -> UpperFilters

4. Run regedit and delete the following registry keys:

- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis

- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Acronis

5. Delete the following files if exist:

- \Windows\system32\AutoPartNt.exe, AutoPartNT.nam, AutoPartNT.let, AutoPartNT.scr

6. Delete the following folders:

- \ProgramData\Acronis\DiskDirector

- \Program Files\Common Files\Acronis

- \Program Files\Acronis

7. Delete the Desktop and Start menu shortcuts;

8. Reboot the computer.

Please let us know the results.

Thank you.

cannot run and cannot uninstall acronis true image home 2009 (?)
I purchased in october and tried to install today on new lenovo t400s-SSD running win7ulit64.
The program installed from HD and on the welcome screen asked to look for updates, to what I agreed. It proposed to download version 210.6029_s_de, what I accepted and entered "run" after download. The 64-bit licence key was accepted. But now, trying to start it, I receive the message "Acronis true image ist nicht installiert" and it closes. Trying to uninstall via control panel asks "do you really want to uninstall?" Entering YES ends up with the message "do you accept to update acronis true image 2009 on your computer?" Entering YES leaves the program, and entering NO quits uninstall.

Hello Sir,

I am familiar with the issue you are experiencing and will do everything possible from my side to provide you with the complete resolution.

To resolve the issue please launch the installation file of the program (you should use the installation file of the same build that is already installed, i.e. if you want to uninstall build #5055, you should use the installation file for build #5055) and select Install Acronis True Image Home -> Remove (the third option at the bottom of the program window).

Wait for the process to be completed, reboot the computer and download the latest build of the program. Please log in to your account and go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Latest build -> Download. Download the file and install the program from the scratch.

You can learn more on how to download the latest build here.

The issue should be resolved.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

I too upgraded from Vista HP 64-bit to Win7 HP 64-bit and now I have DD10 build 2288 stuck on my machine with no way to remove it. I tried running the Acronis Cleanup Utility to remove DD10, and it did remove DD10, but the cleanup utility also corrupts the registry by removing most of the programs I have installed in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features (from 80 installed programs down to 29). I have to do a system restore to undo the damage to the registry, which puts DD10 back too. I have duplicated this so I am certain it is the Acronis Cleanup Utility that is corrupting the utility.

In case you are not aware, the Windows Cleanup Utility that you mention in the above post has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center because "While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center." So using that utility as part of your manual removal steps listed above is not an option.

I can see from other posts that I am not the only person that now has DD10 stuck on their machine after upgrading to Win7. As noted in other forum posts, the Windows Upgrade Advisor does not make any recommendations about removing DD10 prior to upgrading. In my opinion Acronis should have provided this info to Microsoft so this whould not have occured.

What I need now is a documented process that will remove **all** components DD10 from Win7 that works, without causing any further corruption or issues. Can you do that?

Thanks...Steve

Hello Steven!

Thank you for your comment. I understand your concern and will do my best to shed the light to the situation.

Unfortunately there are no documented steps of removing Acronis Disk Director 10 from Windows 7:

this product officially doesn't support Windows 7, was never updated to support it and in case one encounters issues with Acronis Disk Director 10 and Windows 7 we will not be able to help.

The only thing we can advise is to wait till Microsoft releases its removal tool. I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.

I was able to uninstall flawlessly Acronis Disk Director 10.0.2241 from Windows 7 x64 with Revo Uninstall Pro.

Download the fully functional 30-day-trial from here.

Install it, start it, in the window shown select "Acronis Disk Director", right-click and select uninstall.

A new window pops up with 1, 2, 3. The program makes first a backup of your registry, after that it starts the Acronis DD uninstaller and then,

curious as it is, the uninstaller works correctly!

After that, at point 3, you can scan your PC for remnants of DD10, but Revo found nothing.

At the end you can uninstall Revo, if you like.

That's all.

I've done this on my PC and laptop. Hope it works for you too!
