How to define a backup source to recover files
Hello,
I have had to reset my C drive. I now want to restore some data from a recent backup. I have followed the instruction sequence....
I attach a screenshot showing that True image only finds one backup to recover from - its very old. The dropdown doesn't list anything else. You will see I have ticked the 'appdata' folder I want to recover. On another disk on my system I have lots of more recent backups, some full and many incremental. Please see Capture 2
Question How do I force Acronis to recognise and make available these more recent backups, both full and incremental so I can access a more recent appdata. I am not overly familiar with this product so appreciate your thoughts. Thank you in anticipation Mark |

Easier method - go to your most recent backup via Windows file explorer and double click on it. It should open up so you can copy and paste files out of it.
However, as Steve mentioned, be careful restoring the entire appdata folder - that houses references to numerous user settings and applications. What exactly do you need to restore from appdata - if it's a particular file (or files or folders), I would only recover and replace those specifically (like for instance Chrome favorites, or something like that).
Also curious from your screenshots - are you storing your backup in your "my documents" on the same computer that's being backed up? If so, not a good idea - if your drive dies, your backups would die with it.

Hi Steve,
Thanks ever so much for your time and help. I will try what you suggest. I will restore the appdata subfolder I need to a different disk. Its actually .minecraft for my son.
If you look at Capture1 as in my original post there was only one backup listed as available. I would have expected True image to recognise the full backup 'Files_full_b19_s1_v1.tib' as a valid backup and offer the ability to use the programs full functionallity to access files.
I did have to re install True Image and I wounder if that caused the indexes or list of valid backup files to be lost. I know other Backup software does have inbuilt functionallity say go to this disk and look for valid backups and create indexes.
Anyway you have given me something to explore.
I wish you well
Mark

Thanks Bobbo,
I have replied to Steve but in answer to your question. My Backups are on a dedicated backup disk. And its only the C drive I backup to the S drive.
I wish you well,
Mark
