a simple way to view elapsed times & file sizes?

Thread needs solution

upfront caveat: am first-time poster on this forum & have no idea if this question should be a "story" or "topic". please let me know if i chose appropriately.

am hopefully overlooking something quite basic:

cannot find any way to simply review (from within ATI itself) a log or record of back-up history including start/stop/elapsed times & file sizes & errors/completions, etc. for full or incremental back-ups.

in my experience w/ competing products, viewing this type of info has been extremely simple, even color-coded for easy visual reference.

only thing i've found so far is "MVP Log Viewer" - which is not built-in, needs to be downloaded/added as extra tool and, however good, seems more like an afterthought than the type of built-in capability one might expect.

am i missing something in the "regular" ATI app?

CCM, welcome to these user forums.

Choosing to create a new topic is the correct route to go.  Stories are new with this new forum software and we are still trying to get our heads around what that actually means?

The MVP Log Viewer is the only easy option for accessing the log files created for many of the functions performed by Acronis True Image, including backup tasks.

Acronis in their wisdom (or otherwise) decided to remove the built-in log viewer function from the 2015 and later versions, despite large volumes of user feedback asking for this to be reinstated.

The MVP Log Viewer was created to try to address this lack of basic log function and is supported by the Acronis staff who frequent these forums - see KB 59335: Acronis True Image 2017: Community Tools which they have provided to help users find the tool.  See also the links in my signature to this and other MVP tools and resources.

Please use the Feedback tool found in the ATIH GUI in the Help section to register your concerns about this topic known to Acronis.

mr. smith,
thanks for your quick & thorough response.

fyi:  the choice this week to re-up from pre-2015 versions to ATI-2017 for all 5 pc's was due in part to help & comments from MVP-ers like you.

had a PSU blow earlier this week (not a nice sound...) and, too late, realized i'd not been fully prepared for a potential "universal" restore if needed.  100% due to complacency on my part.

while waiting for new PSU was highly motivated to quickly evaluate several back-up solutions & ultimately chose to consolidate w/ATI for several reasons - including the quality of "extra" help on forum from people like you.

(btw - good news: PSU replaced and thankfully nothing else died...)

fyi #2: learning curve on ATI-2017 has not been as flat as i'd hoped, mostly b/c ATI 2017 seems to be working a bit differently than expected - like the crazy notion of history & logs no longer being easy to find or read. will most likely be back on forum w/ more questions once more data is collected...

thanks again for your advice to this & many other postings (by others) already reviewed.

CCM, one point that I should have mentioned with regards to the log files, is that part of the reason why Acronis may have removed the Log option from the main GUI is that users can receive a copy of the log file by email when using the Notification options.  This is only the log for backup or validation activities primarily, so it won't help you to look at the many other logs that ATIH creates and which the MVP Log Viewer can show to you.

Glad to hear that your experience with the failed PSU wasn't as critical as it could have been - have replaced plenty of failed PSU's over the years and only remember losing the whole motherboard on one occasion when it was 'fried' by the power surge.  That was an old IBM PS2 model 80 for which parts were very hard to come by so was scrapped!
