Um,venting my frustation is'nt a rant, lol.Common problem with ATIH2009 is that win 7/64 pro has built in a defrag every 3 days or so as you know(or i hope you do!? with 2085 posts here!) you should'nt defrag with the software. So even if turn it off(auto) every few days you get a blue screen or it trys to do a error-checking or system restore to b4 the F11 option is turned on...then you goto services and turn defrag off so I believe(2 weeks finding that one!).I get a message in my task bar,it then tells me i have to upgrade (solve problem with ATIH2009)another thing is i bought a WD/My Book Home Edition 1TB external Harddrive and it would'nt even work with the damm software,It just blew somthing up inside it and I had to buy a external case with 1tb and stuff round for 3 weeks with returns and setting up.Now am i allowed to rant, lol.Just cant be botherd some times, software you buy just in case turns out to be a wast of money and A LOTT OF TIME WASTED.I have 8 comps in my house and had the odd virus ect' is why i got it in the 1st place,It is a virus, spend more time stuffing around reading up on it and updating it for what...should be able to buy it,last for a few years and then upgrade.Im just not interested in paying for new computers,Internet security, backup software and operating systems ect' every year.Im done wasting my time here.

Adrian,
1. It isn't that you can't use the W7 auto defrag with TI, but that as the disk sectors are altered TI will make differentials or incrementals that are as large as a first time full image. Switching off the W7 defrag schedule, won't make any difference to TI as it couldn't care less whether this is running or not.
2. Your BSOD's, ideally having the Micosoft error number and discription is useful to track down where or what is causing that problem. As far as TI is concerned there are some behind the scenes components that can cause that problem. The first is the NSB driver, SnapAPI driver, Timeounter and far more rarely the scheduler 2, RAM can be major problem. You mention the F11 option so I assume you attempted to activate the ASRM (Acronis Start Up and Recovery Manager) - TI doesn't do error checking of anything unless you perform a validation task and then it only checks the image it has made.
3. What exactly wouldn't work with the WD drive? Was this from within Windows or from the Rescue CD? What task were you trying to perform?
4. TI cannot 'blow something up' electrically, it would in theory be possible for it to keep issuing head movement commands that might cause a hardware failure, but as TI accesses disk via the Windows API, this would seem unlikely. You didn't say what this 'blowing up' caused.
