Is it necessary to match TI Versions across backup and recover?

Thread needs solution

I have a computer running TI 2013, yet I have others running 2015 and 2018.  Do I need to use a 2013 boot media to recover a backup created using the TI 2013 version?  Or will the 2015 and 2018 boot media work as well?

William, the definitive answer to your question lays with KB 1689: Backup archive compatibility across different product versions which gives a table of the compatibility testing that Acronis have done themselves.

The above document would say that your 2018 or 2015 boot media should be fully capable of handling your older 2013 backups.

As with all 'official' statements, it is best to keep a copy of the rescue media for each of your ATI versions 'just in case' you hit a situation where only that media may work for you!

Thanks Steve.  I have made a boot media of my 2013 software and will try that on the 2013 created TIB.  In my Products account info it shows I have bought 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018.  Too many to keep proper track of and frankly I like the 2013 interface best, but will update all to 2018 to keep my confusion down to a minimum.

The KB article does confirm that my 2018 boot media should be able to recover my 2013 created TIB.  Oh well.  I am on my 70th hour of my 900 GB F&F recovery and it is appearing closer to completing.  Once completed I will try a full Disk and Partition and recovery again to get you that error log.
