Get stuck with Recovery process!
I have just created a full backup from one of my disks (2 partition) and now looks like there is no easy way to recover the data!
Here is the problem,
I have 3 TB of storage, 2 disk on my laptop and 1 external device.
I have created a full backup from my laptop partitions (only OS partitions and a personal one).
The backup .TIB image is about 800GB.
2TB on my laptop is full, only 100GB free space is available.
Sure there're duplicate files between .TIB image and the source partition but it's a time consuming process if I go through deleting duplicate files from source partition to free space and also it's not guaranteed to make enough space for converting the .TIB image to a VHD for modification.
So, I can't convert the .TIB image to a VHD because I have no free space left. (800GB)
My question:
Is there any solution to modify a.TIB image and delete those files that I have on my source?
Mounting .TIB image is write protected and I can't modify it's content to reduce the backup size!
Is it possible to modify the image on a linux OS?
Unfortunately, looks like I can't get technical support from Acronis for a trial version of their products and it makes sense when it comes to pay first and then maybe just maybe we will be able to help you out :)
Thank you in advance for your reply!

Thank you for your reply.
I think Acronis miss such a feature, maybe as an advanced feature for power users and those who are willing to risk their backups :)

David, whilst I understand your comment about having a feature for power users, I suspect that there simply isn't sufficient demand from users for this.
Part of my reason for saying this, is that there are existing methods that you can use to achieve effectively the same end result, while also keeping your backup image files protected.
Consider the following steps:
Restore a backup image file to a spare disk of appropriate capacity.
Note: ensure no conversion of partition system occurs in doing this, i.e. keep MBR as MBR / GPT as GPT.
Remove all duplicate files / folders from the restored spare disk.
Make a new smaller backup from the modified spare disk.

Thank you Steve, I have managed to free some space so that I could convert my backup to a .vhdx!
At least hyper-v does allow modifying contents and compact.
Anyway, Thank you for your reply!

David, thanks for the feedback / update, glad you were able to do the conversion as you wanted.
