ATI 2018 Missing Features After Upgrade From ATI 2016

Thread needs solution

I only recently bought an upgrade to ATI 2018 a couple of weeks ago when I saw an offer for 5 licenses at a reduced priced.

What stuck out to me right away was having features removed from the UI which I had previously found very useful:

  1. The backup list used to show the date and time of the last backup but now it only shows backup names. You have to click on an item to view the backup time/date in the right-hand panel. This is awkward as multiple backups of the same drive/partition in the left column now all look the same.
  2. Once you have initiated a backup there is no longer a convenient check box to choose to 'Shut down computer when backup completes'. My default was always to have that disabled in the main backup options but it was very handy to have on the main screen if your backup was still running late into the night (longer than expected) and you wanted to quickly tick the box and turn off the monitor.

I'm really missing these two features. Any chance they could be restored to ATI 2018 please?

Please don't say they are in ATI 2019 only as I'm not going to be buying an upgrade to that after having ATI 2018 for only 2 weeks...

Mr Ferret, welcome to these User Forums.

Please see forum topic: Acronis True Image 2019 just released! where you will see the following information:

Free Upgrade policy

Free upgrade for owners of perpetual licenses

If you purchased/activated Acronis True Image 2018 Standard between July 23, 2018 and August 21, 2018, you are eligible for a free upgrade to Acronis True Image 2019 Standard.

Free upgrade from a subscription license

If you currently have an active subscription (Acronis True Image Advanced or Acronis True Image Premium), a new version build will be available to download for free in Acronis account after release. The new version will be active until the current subscription expiration date.

Free Upgrade page: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/homecomputing/trueimage/free-upgrade/check_2019.html

Not ignoring your questions but the information about the last backup is shown on the main GUI page for each task and in more detail on the Activity page.  The Shutdown option button is only shown when the backup task is active as shown in the screen shot below:

Hey Steve,

Really appreciate the quick reply to that. Ah, I didn't see that article at all as I hadn't gone into the ATI 2019 forum page - well that's a little embarrassing! Thank's for pointing that one out to me. From your screen shot it looks like they have put back in one of the options I was missing which is great (it doesn't appear while backing up in 2018).

Just went to their 2019 eligibility web page and thankfully found I could indeed upgrade again to 2019 which is great. It's getting a bit late for me here though so I might need to try installing/upgrading over the weekend on my various PC's to see what the differences or new features are.

Thanks again

Glad to be able to help but FYI the screen shots were from ATI 2018 (not 2019) and remain the same in the new version.

Mr. Ferret: I don't remember when the "Activity" tab became available but I ignored it for a long time.  My mistake.  It contains a lot of information - more, I think, than you were asking for.  Give it a look.

Steve: Is there any way to prune the activity list?  The list for one of my backup tasks goes back to last September - a bit more than I really need.  Does the Activity process scan the TI-daemon logs?  I know I can delete those using the Log Viewer.

Patrick, the Activity information is not derived from the logs as far as I understand - if you look in the C:\Program Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database folder there is a file called "ActivityStorage" with no file type stored there, which is where this data comes from.

I suspect this may be another MySQL type file but have not tried to look at the contents and would not recommend attempting to modify it.

Perhaps a Feedback suggestion to allow control over what period the Activity data should show, i.e. limit to 3 months, 6 months or forever...!

Thanks for the info, Steve.  I'll submit a Feedback.
