Hello,

I just downloaded the trial version of ATIH2011 and have been searching for a solution to my problem. The only help I have been able to find regarding a similar issue is in regards to ATIH2010, so I'm hoping I can find a solution here for 2011.

I have a secondary hard drive that does not contain my OS, assigned as local disk B: in Windows 7. I use this mainly to hold media such as TV recordings from Windows Media Center and for CD rips. I can access this drive fine in Windows 7, but this is the second backup utility that cannot detect this local drive (I have previously used Synology Disc Replicator 3 to backup to my Synology NAS).

The only way I have been able to work around this issue so far has been to map folders within it as network drives. While this does do the job, I'd much rather point my backup software directly to the drive without having to do this. I've always shared B: on my network, so I'm hoping this is not the issue (if it happens to be, I can always unshare the drive itself and only assign sharing to specific folders).

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Is the drive a standard SATA drive connected internally?

If you boot to the TI CD, does TI properly see the drive?

If you have any media drives connected (card readers, printers with media slots, iPods, etc.), you could try disconnecting them and see if it makes a difference.

Is there anything different about the drive than the ones seen by TI?

Was Disc Replicator the other backup utility or was it something else? If it was an imaging program, is it still installed?

I would definately see if removing the drive share makes a difference. It's an easy test.

There is currently a problem with TI 2011 that causes it not to "see" some drives in File Backup (TrueCrypt mounted files/volumes, for example). This problem may extend to other areas.

Yes, this drive is standard SATA and I have also unshared the drive, but this did not solve the issue. I do not have a TI CD due to the version I'm using being a trial. Disc Replicator was the backup utility that came packaged with my NAS, works similar to TI, but with a lot less options for customization -- it is still installed, but I've disabled scheduled backups.

I did find out something interesting, though. While, as I said before, drive letter B: is assigned to this partition in Windows 7, when I accessed Disk Backup through TI 2011, this drive was listed, but only by the drive name without a drive letter assignment. I also tried to see if there was something to help me in Tools & Utilities and found if I clicked on "View current state of your disks" under Security and privacy, it lists the drive with drive letter B: assigned to it.

It makes me think something incredibly simple that I've overlooked is causing the problem. When I originally set up this partition, I just allowed Windows 7 to set it up, which may be the key to solving this issue, but perhaps someone has a workaround which doesn't involve me wiping the drive and recreating the partition...wishful thinking? I hope not... :)
