Backup name changed

Thread needs solution

All of sudden my backup name changed from:

\\NSLU2\BACKUP_1\anne1(1).tib --> \\NSLU2\BACKUP_1\anne1(1).tib_EA5E7404-FD7F-408D-AF8C-B659632E22E1.tib

Why this extra extension '_EA5E7404-FD7F-408D-AF8C-B659632E22E1.tib' ?
I have version 2011.

It's a mistake, I think from a corrupt registry entry or file table entry. You can try moving your backups to a safe place, deleting the task, and starting over. A few other folks have reported this issue but not many. Also, wouldn't hurt to run chkdsk on your drive.

OK - I will delete the backup (I have several generations) and recreate the task.
I have chkdsk as task in Windows 7 that I run on a weekly basis.

This issue was reported previously, amidst reports of single or double digit numbers being appended to filenames, in this thread:

http://forum.acronis.com/forum/8293

The extra suffix consisting of a long sequence of digits, as you have reported, is the rarer phenomenon. Hopefully fixed in the upcoming update to ati2011. Meanwhile, starting a fesh task might get you a fresh set of database tags without the added digits.

You don't have to delete all your tibs. jsut try moving them to a diff directory. If ati2011 names new tibs correctly (without the long suffix) then you delete the older tibs once you have a stock of newer ones. This way you can hang onto some of your history.

Now I got rid of anne1(1).tib_EA5E7404-FD7F-408D-AF8C-B659632E22E1.tib but Acronis keeps renaming my backup from anne1 -> anne1(1).
This started with version 2010 ... never before.
Is it a feature or bug ?

That's a specific irregularity that supposedly has been corrected in the update Acronis is working on.

I believe the appearance you can expect will be a continuance of what has been illustrated in the current 2010 version. Note the attachment below as an example of what I believe you can expect. If you are intentionally using parenthesis ( ) as part of the backup file name, I recommend you switch and use brackets [ ] instead of parenthesis. TrueImage uses parenthesis for it own use. If the user tries to also use parenthesis, then it becomes confusing and the user backup file name will not appear as expected as TI will delete the user created parenthesis and use the parenthesis as part of their chain identification.

Use of parenthesis by the program appears to be a normal occurrence and (1) (2) (3) will appear as each new backup set (chain) is created.
