User interface for TI2011
Due to the drastic change of the user interface for TI2011, I am unable to back up or restore partition as I used to with TI2010. More specifically:
1) I am unable to specify a particular folder in which to store the backup.
2) I am unable to pick a specific backup file to restore among many other backup files.
Could anyone help?

Thanks for your response.
Let me ask one by one more specifically beginning with how to back up partition.
Is it correct that we can specify only drive not folder or sub-folder in which to save the backup?

Using the guides shown in the first attachment, you can browse to any disk, any folder. You have total control over which folder is to contain your backup files.
First attachemt:
Click on the arrowhead shown in item #1.
This will open a new window showing your drives, using the vertical scroll bar on the right,(#2) you can vertically scroll to the very last entry which is a another browse (or maybe custom) button (item #3). Click on this #3 browse option and another window will open showing you the directory tree and you can then browse to the disk you wish and use an existing folder or use the create new folder option at the top of screen. While you are there inside the custom folder location, you can also assign a name to your intended backup file.

I downloaded and reviewed the manual. It solved my problem for how to pick partition to same and how to navigate where to save it. I try backing up a partition but got an error message. I will create a new thread to post this question under the subject "Error code 0x00090063".
Edit: This problem has been resolved by re-installing TIH2011.

I got some search hits using google. Their fix was to an uninstall and then reinstall. But before doing that, I would restart the install file for your current build and it will give you a repair optiion as part of the install menu.

So far I could 1) hunt for a partition to back up, 2) navigate to a folder in which to save the backup, 3) complete the backup operation, and 4) loacate a backup file to restore.
Now I could not figure out how to specify a partition in which to restore a OS system from its backup. Your further assistance is appreciated.

If the intended target of the restore does not exist, you will have to manually create the partition before a restore is possible.
If you are wanting to use your restore to overwrite an existing partition, you can use the TrueImage Recovey image progam choosing the Backup file to be restored and then choosing the target location. If you need more specifics, a little more details would help.
Remember, you can practice or simulate doing what you want to do. It is practice or simulation up to the point where you must choose either to cancel or to proceed. Click cancel to stop the practice.

My PC hardware includes a multiple of phisical drives each having multiple partitions. Multiple of OSes are installed on these partitions.
On TIH2010, if I pick a backup image to restore, then target partition is asked, but no such prompt happens on TIH2011. This is where I am stuck.
It appears that I can restore the image if the image is desired to be restored to the partition from which the image is created. But my present case is that I want to restore the image onto a different partition.

This type restore is best done when booted from the Rescue CD. Doing the restore from there, the screeen you are looking for will be readily apparent.
This sample is using the Windows gui and not the CD.

Now I can create a backup of any partition and restore it onto any partition. But to me, 2011 is certainly not as intuitive as 2010 or older versions.
One more question:
How can I check the validity of existing TI backup? I reviewed the manual but could not find it.

The very best way to validate any of your prior backup archives is to boot from the Rescue CD and use the validate option. The reason it is best validate option is that the CD is the Recovery program used when restoring and Windows is not involved.
Others options include making the backup when booted from the CD and choose the validate to be done as part of the backup.
Also possible in the Windows TI program is set your task to include validation immediately following the backup.
and/or You can create a special task to perform validation.
The attachment is an explanation of the validation screen. Your screen will look slightly different as my screen shows the effects of using the various options.

So, answer to my question appears to be that there is no way to do it under Windows GUI mode. The validation check could be done with TIH 2010 under Windows GUI mode.
Another thing I noticed about 2011 which is different from 2010:
After initiating a restore operation rebooting happened to continue restore operation. I was restoring an OS onto a partition other than where the running OS resides. I wondered why this was necessary. This rebooting was something unexpected because no such rebooting was required with 2010 as far as I remember.

Yes, validation can be done from within Windows--both from inside the Windows Explorer directory tree; or from inside the TrueImage MyBackups Task.
As to rebooting, I believe TrueImage knows about the active partitions and advises Windows that a reboot is necessary. As for my own restores, all are always done when booted from the CD.
