Endless Backup

Thread needs solution

How long is too long? My latest backup is still running for 2+ days during which time it has backed up 570 GB. It still indicates that an addition 17 hours remain.

I back a an SSD with Win 10 OS on it and a data HDD. Prior full backups have taken 18 hours to backup 743 GB at a rate of 201.7 Mbps and more recently 745 GB in 21 hours and 50 minutes at a rate of 394.6 Mbps. The most recent full backup took 1 day 14 hours to backup 755 GB at a speed of 369.4 Mbps. The two drives are healthy

The time remaining fluctuates. I just don't know what to do but I don't want to stop the backup. The PC is being backed up to my NAS. A different PC running ATI 2017 has no issues backing up to the NAS in a timely fashion.

Any help will be appreciated.

Glenn, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but not enough information here to fully understand what is causing your backup task to take a longer time?

What type of backup are you doing here?
What backup scheme are you using?
If using an Incremental scheme, how many incrementals before making a new Full backup?

The most likely reason for the backup taking a longer time than normal would be that it is making a new Full backup.

You may wish to consider splitting your backup into 2 separate backups, one for your Win 10 OS on the SSD, and a separate backup for your data HDD.  Doing this will enable the SSD backup to run at its own best speed, plus your schedule can be adjusted according to the degree of changes that have been made to either drive.

Yes, as Steve suggests there are many advantages of having separate backup tasks for each disk drive. I have been doing so for as long as I can remember.
