Problem using Acronis 2018 to clone 2 USB connected drives
Using Acronis 2018 to clone 2 USB connected drives. OS Windows 10 Pro 64
Source drive WD 1 TB (less than 300 GB data) is in a Sabrent docking station connected with USB 3.0.
Target drive is WD 500 GB SSD connected through a Cool Max powered adapter and USB 2.0. Disk Volume is noted in Disk Management as “Unallocated”
Both drives are seen in Disk Management.
I set the 500 GB SSD with Disk Management to simple volume formatted with NTFS
Acronis Clone Disk saw both drives and using manual settings I selected the 1 TB source disk and the 500 GB target disk. Selected proceed (noted that all data on target drive would be lost and that the size of the source volume would be reduced).
Did this twice – first time with the source drive (the active OS) in the running computer with the SSD connected via SATA. Nothing. After that I pulled the OS drive and used the set up above. Let run all night and nothing; except the SSD is showing unallocated space (remember I had formatted it NTFS)
