Unable to reinstall
Installed Acronis True Image Home 2009 on a PC running Windows XP. Everything went well untill I tried to reboot from the bootable CD I made using True Image. The PC would not reboot from the CD. I tried the CD in another PC and it worked. Therefore I strated to investigate the hard drive.
I tested the drive which is a ST9160821A with Seatools. It passed. I performed a deep scan with McAfee, found nothing. Ran Windows Error Checking, everything worked. Then I performed a Search for *~*.* and found thousands of files with ~ in the name. Many were pictures and music, others were Acronis. I started deleteing these files, and I uninstalled True Image Home. When I tried to boot the PC from the same CD that did not work before the PC booted.
There was still an adnormality. When the PC booted it honked "Can't Find Acronics Loader". I clicked Continue to OS and it booted to Windows. I deleted the Acronis Security Zone from the hard drive and then convered the space to Unallocated. When I rebooted the PC the same message appeared. So I searched the Registry for Acronis and cleaned out every instance. When I rebooted the same error message was there.
I decideed to reinstall True Image Home 2009. I went to My Account on the Acronis website; found where I registered True Image Home 2009, and downloaded serials.txt, and TrueImage2009.9796_s_en.exe. When I tried to install I was told I was making an Upgrade and asked for old serial number and new serial number. I went back to Acronis website and it said, Hello Kenneth. I clicked on Registered Products, Get all serial numbers. There I found the same seial number as in the file serials.txt I downloaded. What is going on?
I do not have two serial numbers. The only serial number I have is found in two places. One is under Downloads the other place is under Registred Products - Get all serials. I purchased Aconis True Image Home 2009 on June 24, 2009. What serial number(s) should I use to install it.

Hi Scott,
I followed the link to thread 4076, and scrolled down to the third reply. It was about going to Device Manager and seeing if the Aronis backup manager were enabled. I went to Device Manager and could not find any mention of Acronis. Why would this be relevant to reinstalling Acronis?

ARe you sure you went to the right thread: 4076: Cannot mount any image backups in 2010
anyway the thrid post there says:
"
To all who are going to go the trouble of unistalling an existing installation of ATI and then installing/reinstalling, do yourself a favor and go jsut a little bit farther and "msconfig" things to reduce the chance for probs:
run msconfg.exe
Select Services tab, check box for Hide Windows Services, Select All, Select Disable all
Select Startup tab, select Disable All
Select OK, select reestart.
do you uninstall and install
run msconfig and on the General tab, check Normal Startup, select OK, select restart
This method keeps the memory empty of programs except stuff needed for windows and avoids certain confilcts that can otherwise occur during installs and uninstalls and cleanups.

Hi Scott,
I tried using msconfig to keep memory empty. It had no affect.
Why isn't the serial number for my original purchase in my registration file? If it were I would have the information requested for the reinstall.
