Auto update.. must I now remake all my backups and Safe Media to reflect the change?
Just had an auto update #6597 to my TIH 2011.
I am assuming that I must now remake all my backups and safe media to reflect the change?
My thinking is, and maybe wrongly so, if I was to restore the system using the backups I have, it would of course install the earlier version of TIH. But then if that happened I guess I could d/l the update to the program and install it or maybe the program would prompt me to install it as it did this time and do it automatically.
And does the current BartPE (which I can't use) and Safe Media (which I can) contain the update?
What to do?
Thanks,
F Wolf

Colin,
Making a rescue CD doesn't allow me to use the SAFE MODE feature, the only thing that will work on my machine. It's been an ongoing problem since version 2010, the developers are working on finding a solution.
Is my thinking incorrect? IE: If I was to restore a backup now, the resulting version would be the older one in the .tib file. I don't see how it could be anything but. Then again, once installed, I could always just add the update to the new/"old" backup that was installed.
How do I see what version of TIH I was updated to? There is no "Help About" button.

If you restore an image or backup, it will be whatever was in that image or backup. I think I'm missing what you are getting at here.

Are you referring to the Windows or the CD version?
When you say you aren't able to use the SAFE mode, do you mean the option doesn't appear on the CD or that your system hangs?

Colin,
I don't know how to be more clear. If I use the backups I have made prior to the auto update a few days ago, that backup will have the older version of TIH on it is all I am saying. Yes I can restore it but NO it won't be the most recent version. I'd have to log on and update the restored version to make it current.
I don't see a way to see the version # on the TIH I have installed. My version was an upgrade to 2011 from 2010. I just wondered where to find it on the screen. I have NO 2011 CD it was all done from the 'net.
The only way for me to get Safe Mode is to make a disc from the web page that has the safe media on it. Otherwise when running TIH it refuses to recognize my Esata drive. Safe Mode WILL.
And "No" BartPE" doesn't work at all on this machine I had a version made for me by one the the upper end tech people and no joy. But that's not something I want to get into.
Thank you,
F Wolf

Now I understand.
In Windows, you should be able to click on help and then select the about menu item showing you the standard 'about' form. I'm not at home at the moment, so can't attach a screen snip of what you should be seeing. If you don't have this option then there is something wrong with your installation.
eSata can be a problem depending on the hardware and chipset of the device and PC. I normally redownload the SAFE media and install it and remake a CD with every new build.
Does the Windows PE version (if you've got the Plus Pack) work? Here of course you also need to download WAIK for your OS, about 1GB of download.
