Making bootable disc backup
Acronis 2011 on 64 bit windows.
I would like to make a bootable backup of my hard drive which contains two partitions. The First is an HP Recovery partition and the second contains the operating system and my programs and files. When I try to make a whole disc backup the make backup bootable option is "grayed" out and I can not do so. How do I make a backup which is bootable.
Second: To be able to recover files individually do I have to make a files backup or can I pick them individually out of a disc backup?
Knew how to do this on old computer with 2010. To my regret that computer dies and I now have to deal with an HP conputer configured as abovee and running Windows 7 x64.

Let me be clear on this. I do not want the backup itself to boot. What I want is this: If I do a bare metal restore from the backup, I want the hard drive itself to boot after it is restored Same if I have had to put a new hard drive in my machine as the old one failed.
Thank you..

Gary,
If you do a regular disk/partition backup of your *entire* normal boot disk, this image can be used later to restore your system on the same disk or a new disk. By default and essence, this type of backup is what you call a bootable backup.
Making the disk where your backup is stored bootable is another question, but it doesnt seem to be yours here.
