How to protect acronis backup Tib/ Tibx file on Another Machine
Hlw, I will need your recommendation. I have a file server, where users data are stored. I install acronis backup 12.5 on this server and back up the drive with different backup plan. My backup destination is some shared drive on a different server which is running on windows server 2012 and that server i have no license for install acronis backup.
Now i want to protect my destination servers data where the tibx file are backed up. how can i secured tib / tibx file from ransomware or any other malware. Need your recommendation for deploy or any configuration.
Note: My Backups are already attacked by ransomware few days ago. I will start again from primary .

Hello Peter,
thanks for your reply. Acronis active protection says, it protect Map drive . if i do map drive of my destination storage at source machine and turn on active protection, is it protect the map drive or Indirectly my destination storage ?
Actually i think the entry point is an email and attack start from one of my users workstation. It Spread the network , most probably by smb 1 . Actually I don't really have enough free time and resource to experiment this.

Hello Jobin!
I have the feeling these in-depth security concerns should be discussed with Support directly. Regardless here is my opinion:
It should protect the backups themselves on a mapped drive, but I'm not sure it can be concluded this will indirectly protect your server where the share is located as well. Especially since it will have a security hole if any of the workstations that has access to this mapped drive doesn't have Active Protection running. Also of concern to me what happens when someone adds a folder from this drive as a network folder, as active protection doesn't protect those.

Hello Jobin,
welcome to Acronis forums!
Acronis Active Protection will protect files in the backup location (if it is organized as a mapped drive folder) only from the local Agent's processes which try to access/modify on the mapped drives. It will be able to monitor neither local processes on that file server nor all other processes from other machines accessing that mapped drive folder.
