Unable to make a back up unless it's scheduled.

Thread needs solution

I don't need acronis to schedule back ups for me, since i can do it myself.

There's a problem. Everytime i select once only on back up schedule and then proceed to do the back ups like do the task now, nothing the program just sits idle. I have to schedule at least 1 back up task before the task will even run now. What i do is change the schedule back to manual after the task has run.

I have the latest build and i'm wondering what exactly is wrong with acronis in this aspect.

Eugene,

If you want to run your backups on demand, choose no schedule and run them from the backup list. If you use Run Once, it means run it only one time at the date/time I will schedule. So this is a scheduled backup.

Create a backup task definition in the normal way but don’t let it run (i.e. make sure the Proceed box is unchecked) – just Finish it.

Then each time you want to run that task:

Click Tasks and Log (in LH column)

Click Unscheduled Tasks (in centre of the screen)

In the list of unscheduled tasks, mouse right click on the backup task you want to run and click Start

Since you are using the same backup task definition each time, it is a good idea as part of the definition to suffix the backup name with the automatic @date and @time options.

Okay i followed your instructions and click on start and nothing

Are you still running version2009?

Is this a "Files and Folders' backup or is this a backup of the entire disk or partition?

Where is the target? Is this a USB external or CD?

Have you looked at the log file of one of the failed to start items. Is there a log file for that time period. If yes, what is the error?

It's a back up for the entire HDD which has 2 paritions.

Yes it's the 2009 version.

The target is on another hdd it's not usb but a sata hdd.

Log files state it's successful.

Log file does not record down failure of back up to start. When i click on back up with no schedule there's nothing. It just doesnt react at all.

For a test, connect change the esata to usb and see if you get the same results. I have no real answer--just trying to find something that works. If dektop, plug into usb in the back. Do not use a hub. I am using a couple eSata devices without issues plus two internal SATA on a quick change caddie.
