I recently lost my win7 system because of bios problem changing Raid to ACHI. So I have reloaded Win7 32 bit and I now need software like my old Ghost and Partition Magic to make a backup image. Maxtor and WD use to have some with the purchase of a new drive so I went online to see what was available. WD has Acronis True Image WD Edition 2010 Build 14.010 for free. So I downloaded it and tried it. I get to the point of re-booting and after Acronis scans the drives it stops and says error, press any key to re-boot. When I check the log it says it succeeded. But it did not succeed! Anyone have an idea what the problem may be? I don't want to spend two more weeks doing this again!

Have you tried it from the CD?

Are you trying to create a backup image or a clone? They are not the same thing and you use both terms.

It's possible it's not seeing the drives correctly.

Mudcrab> I used the clone option. It sees the drives because it scans them. It just stops after scanning. No I have not tried it from a CD yet. Hmmmm. Brings back memories of having to use a floppy for the older Ghost and Partition Magic products. I'll give that a try. Oh, after the 37 updates are finished installing!
