Chains of differential and incremental backups

Thread solved

Sorry, i don't find this via search.

As backup schema i can decide between following chain methods:
- Full, diff, diff, diff, diff, Full, diff, diff.....
- Full, inc, inc, inc, Full, inc, inc, inc

Both have the disadvantage of using much space for the full backup as start point for new chain.
Buti would love to create the following scheme:

Full, diff1, inc, inc, inc, diff2, inc, inc, inc, diff3, inc, inc, inc

This would save so much space. And if space is full, i could start deleting diff1 with all its incr. backups, but diff2 would still be consistent.

Such a scheme isn't possible right? I would be the most efficient and flexible way for most cases, I think.

Marc, sorry but such a mixed backup scheme is not possible with any version of ATI and since the introduction of the new .tibx format files with ATI 2020, no files should be deleted outside of the tools provided in the ATI GUI as will break the backup image chains and render them unusable.

I have a dim recollection that you can do this with the application previously known as Backup 12.5. (Cannot remember the new name ... well after my bed time...

Thank, I just investigated a bit. Yes, this seems to work only with the Cyber Backup 12.5 version.

Marc, thanks for the update. There may be a change request for this feature to be added (I cannot recall), but I suspect it is unlikely to happen any time soon.
