" ... installation was interrupted ... " True Image 2010 Home ... log attached ... error -2147287038

Thread needs solution

Program was installed on my XP machine and was working fine. Then it would not startup recently. Fought getting it uninstalled tooth and nail and final the windows clean and true image clean worked. Now it wont install my original version or the latest downloaded from web as it says install was interrupted at the beginning. Read the articles on removing the temp files and that did not help.

Attached is the log file and it shows an error -2147287038 at the end. What to do next?

Hello Todd!

Welcome to Acronis Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I understand your concern, and will be glad to help.

Thank you for the installation log attached! I've checked it and found the following error:
MSIGEN:Error occured during CheckForUpgradeCode for {941B4DD3-680B-549F-C7CB-C3DD74998C5D}

The key specified is preventing the product from getting installed. Please revert the key (so it should be D5C89947DD3C-...), go to Start -> Run -> regedit, press enter, this will get you to the Windows registry. Press Ctrl+F, enter the reverted key to Find What field and click Find Next.

As soon as you find the key, please, delete it from the registry and re-run the installation process. In case it still interrupts, please gather again MSI log, Windows System Information and send it to us either directly or here, via Forum comment.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Searched my registry and did not see either of those registry values. Sent you PM. Any other ideas?

Dear Todd,

Thank you for keeping me posted!

I've rechecked the log, and it's my bad, I haven't notified you about another key, I'm very sorry. Could you please check the registry for the  key that starts/finishes with:

3DD4B149

In case it's also not present, please reboot the machine and restart the installation process with gathering MSI log. In case of installation failure, please send this log and Windows System Information.

I would appreciate if you could keep me posted regarding this issue.

Thank you for cooperation and patience. I'll be looking forward to news from you.

For others who may visit the thread regarding the installation issue:

Please note that each installation problem is a unique case, and should be investigated separately. Do not proceed with deleting any regisrty keys unless an Acronis Support Person reviewed your MSI log and specified you the exact key that should be removed.
