Timothy, this is a user forum, and it would be appreciated in future you were cognisant of that when making posts. Acronis employees do not make a habit of lurking in the Forums.

That out of the way, what you are experiencing should not be happening. The most likely culprit is the Cyber Protection module which can bring even the most powerful systems to halt, particularly if it decides it is a good time to do a full PC scan. So the first step should be to check what is happening under the Protection Tab.

Seeing as this is the official Acronis forum I'd think it entirely reasonable and logical for a customer to expect Acronis employees to be routinely monitoring the content. That they aren't probably speaks volumes about the level of official support one can expect.

Is there any way of disabling and uninstalling all features except the backup/restore?

My system recently began to run very-very-very slow. So slow for example, that opening a Windows command prompt took several minutes. After a couple of days worth of debugging, I determined the problem to the recent 2021 upgrade.

I used Windows 'clean mode' to incrementally remove services until the system ran normally. The culprit was the Acronis background services.

A normal uninstall failed, so i had to get and run the Acronis cleanup tool. Now, I have no Acronis products installed on the system, and it runs perfectly fine.

I purchased Acronis so I could backup and restore system SSD to external HDD. I neither need or want the other features such as Cyber Protection or Cyber Cloud. I don't want these features even installed. Is there any way to install only backup/restore?

Robert, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry, NO is the answer!  Acronis have deemed that all users will have their Active & Cyber Protection features installed and active in the background regardless of whether the user wants or uses the same!

See forum topic: Active protection needs to be optional for a recent discussion on this point in the forum.

Hello Everyone,

thank you for sharing your experience with our software and protection features! Though I regret to hear of the issues you've encountered when using Acronis True Image 2021. All feedback has been forwarded to the product management. At the moment, I'm not aware of any changes planned in regards to the protection features, however we collect and register each and every feedback shared by the users online or in the support cases\vie the feedback form. If you by any chance have some time and willingness to investigate the performance issues, please let me know and I'll open a support ticket for you. Otherwise we'd be grateful for any details\logfiles you may send via the Feedback option in the product (do not forget to attach the system report from the affected machine).
