How to save full disk backup not to be overwritten in a new one

Thread needs solution

1. I have installed a new clean Windows 10 20H2 instead of an old Windows 1803 on the same PC

2. All Acronis settings have been stored on  Windows 1803 and then restored on 20H2.

3. No problems and all works perfect!

4. I have a full System disk backup, done on W10 1803. I would like to preserve it for a case I'll need something from it later

Full disk backup job will overwrite this backup, when it will run next time. It just works this way :-)

5. My question is: How can I preserve this old backup? I mean, not to be overwritten by a new backup,  created by this task?

Valery, the options open to you are as follows:

  • Copy the old full disk  backup file(s) to another storage location which can be kept offline.
Note: you will need to turn off Acronis Active Protection to be able to copy the .tib or .tibx file(s).

  • Use the 'Clone settings' option for the task that created the old backup, this will create a new task with the same name but prefixed by (1).  Then change the original task to be not scheduled so that it does not run and cause any overwriting of the old backup.
Note: You can rename the new cloned task to give it a more meaningful name, i.e. change the (1) prefix to 21H1- then the name..  I would also recommend changing the Destination for the cloned task to a new folder so that it is not backing up to the same original folder.

Hi, Steve

A second option looks very reasonable.

Thank you very much.
