ABR10 12708 Bootable Image fails to boot

Thread needs solution

I just downloaded both the Advanced Server and Workstation version of ABR 12708 and created two bootable CD's. Both images looked to be the same but I downloaded both anyway.

When I boot from the CD created with the Advanced Server ISO, it says Can't load Recovery Menu, press a key. Doing so shows a blue ABR screen like it is going to boot and then the screen goes blank and it just hangs there.

When I boot from the CD created with the Advanced Workstation ISO, just hangs on the booting Acronis screen.

I was trying to boot from Windows 7 PC's in each case, which is all I have/need to try and recover. The 11639 version boot CD works fine still. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Hello John,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your message. I will do my best to help you.

We do not have any reports of a known issue such as the one you describe. If I understood correctly, you installed the latest build and then created the bootable media in Windows?

Could you download one of the medias from your Acronis web-account and try booting from it? If it works, then it means the Windows media-build components did not update properly after you installed the latest build. You will need to launch the installation package and select repair installation. This should do fix the problem. You will need to recreate the media.

If it is not working, please use build 11639 as a temporary workaround and contact our Support team so that we can help you with resolving this issue. I apologize for any difficulties.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello,

What I did was download the latest versions ISO for both ABR Server and Workstation (they looked the same but I tried both). I burned each to a CD and when I booted from either on Windows 7 PC's, they hung at slightly different places. I have an 11639 copy that generally works but I was trying to get the latest as I know you generally build in support for more types of hardware configurations with each build. I can try again but I have seen this since in a few builds.

Thank you.
