Can not update Acronis clone

Thread solved

I cloned my C drive a few weeks ago and now there has been a significant update and change to it. I took my clone out to update it and Acronis couldn't see it, so in Windows I formated it to NTFS and assigned a drive letter - still no go. Disk Manager can see it. file Explorer can see it. Acronis can't. All drives are M2 SSD's. Anyone have any advice please? Thanks.

Andrew, welcome to these public User Forums.

I would suggest using the option to 'Add new disk' to prepare the clone SSD - this is found in the Tools section of Acronis.

I spoke too soon Steve. I followed the Add new disk instructions and all looked good - until I went to clone the drive again and got a message saying it had failed and see log for details. I looked for the log and can't find it.

Update. I found the log but it's all gobbleygook to me. Not helpful at all. The disk is still useless in this state.

Andrew, can you paste the log information here so that I can take a look at it for you?

Thanks Steve. Finally figured it out. It's a multi stage process on my machine that starts with the Add a new disk in Acronis and ends up with Windows Disk manager. More complex than Macrium which I used before but Acronis has more features. Best wishes and thanks again.

Hello!

Thanks for sharing what's the root cause.

Cheers.
