TIH2011 NEEDS FIXING
I have been trying out TIH 2011 Build 6696. It needs two major fixes before I will buy it.
1. Forget about this "My Backups" folder; it sounds like a first grade kid. I will decide where my backup images are stored.
2. I will also decide what the name of the Image will be. I put a name for it in the correct field and TIH names it whatever it wants to on my external hard drive. Whose idea was that?
We had similar problems with TIH 2010 that were finally fixed in a subsequent build. Why not fix it before the program is put on the market for sale??? Is there no one to test these programs? Answer: Yes. Our customers who pay for the program.
Please, fix these two issues. I want to have more than one disk image on my external hard drive at a time. Doesn't Acronis know you can't have two or more files by the same name and path?

Hi Grover,
I wanted to look Acronis 2011 over before I posted anything more about it. I also want to thank you for the time and effort you invested in helping me with it.
I have seen that the path "My Backups" is the default location for the disk image. I understand what you said about browsing for the path you want. My complaint is that most Windows based programs "learn" after a few times and will "remember" that location. A small irritation, I guess.
The problem I was having getting Acronis to use my file name was due to my long-standing use of "dots" in the file name. For example: Image.YYYY.MMDD.HHMM I sat here looking at that file name last Saturday and it suddenly dawned on me Acronis 2011 (unlike its predecessors) was being confused by the dots. I noticed whatever file name I used, Acronis 2011 always truncated whatever followed the first dot. When I changed my file naming convention to Image_YYYY_MMDD_HHMM, (using underscores instead of dots) Acronis 2011 would use the entire name.
So, that problem fixed, how do I create an image of the Office Settings? I don't see that anywhere. Is it possible I can't find it because I'm using a Trial Version of Acronis 2011?
Thanks,
Tim

If I am understanding you correctly, you can make a "clone" of your backup settings for a specific task. Right click on the OPERATIONS button and inside the "more" options, you can choose the "Clone backup settings".

Actually, I was referring to the ability to backup my settings for Microsoft Office. I found this yesterday in a pdf file from Acronis:
"How to recover mail, application settings, and system state This refers to recovering data from your E-mail backups. Application settings and system state can be recovered only from old backups created by an earlier Acronis True Image Home 2011 version, for instance, Acronis True Image Home 2010."
So, the answer is, Acronis will not be helping me back up those MS Office Settings anymore.
Oh well...signs of the times.
