Backup for MS SQL not allowed to backup local database, has errors while backing up others

Thread needs solution

Hello,  I have searched for a long time and cannot find an answer to my problem.  I am running the latest build of B&R MS SQL server on a network of 4 computers.  I can remotely connect to the computer in question, however, I am only able to select 2 of the 3 databases to backup.  The databases are local, bckupexec, and sqlexpress.  The backup exec is leftover from a previous install of symantec backup exec software and is  a copy of the sqlexpress database.  When I try to add the local database it says error while connecting to MS SQL.  I can connect to the other two just fine, but when I perform the backup it doesnt finish.  I get an error every time that says "provide credentials that are appropriate to the computer you want to connect to."  I am using the same login/password for the task execution account as I used to remotely login, it is the admin username and password for the remote machine.

What do I need to do in order for the local database to be selectable, and to allow the backup to finish its job without getting a credential error?

I found an article in the knowledge base saying to make the remote user a member of Backup Operators and Administrators, however, when I do this is won't let me remotely connect to the computer anymore.  as soon as I remove the Backup Operators from that user it connects again.  (I am restarting the Agent service after every change I make).  I also checked to see if Network Services had access to adjust memory quotas for a process and replace a process level token, which were also suggested in that article.
