GUID appended to archive filename

Thread needs solution

I have seen several posts with similar problems but none as simple as my situation and no solutions for any.

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Acronis True Image Home 2011 Update 2 Build 6868
Have uninstalled and re-installed with no change.

Daily Scheduled full disk image backup
For 3 or 4 days all works well replacing the backup .tib file.
Then the backup file .tib filename has a GUID followed by a '1' appended to it while being created.
After creation the '1' is removed with a file rename.
If nothing done, after a few days , the process repeats itself and now there are two GUIDs in the filename.

There is nothing complicated here, a simple image of a single SSD created daily.
The drive containing the backup file has loads of room.

The log file of the failure has the message 'Cannot create a file when that file already exists (0xFFF0)'

I have a second machine with the same software doing the same backup scheme and all works well.

Are you doing a single version backup scheme?

Yes, total file replacement every backup.
Disk image.

Interesting. Maybe there is an issue with that backup scheme in the latest build. See http://forum.acronis.com/forum/9509

Can you try another backup scheme to see if you have the same issue? If you have single version, maybe a custom full, keeping only 1 recent version, or an incremental...

I will try a custom full.

Are you splitting the image by any chance?

No, I am not splitting the image. A single file 14 gigs.

After changing to Custom Full, I will probably not have the problem because it does not replace the backup file.
I will now file have Backup.tib, Backup2.tib, Backup3.tib, etc.
Also, Database\archives.xml will continue to grow.
I guess I can live with this, every two weeks, deleting and creating a new backup scheme.

With a custom full, you can turn on auto cleaning and keep only a limited number of versions (most reliable options).
