Acronis TI and USB 3.0

Thread needs solution

Hi,
sorry for my bad english, I speak french.
For my PC, I have:
Motherboard : MSi Z68A-GD65 (Révision B3)
CPU : Intel Processeur Core i5 2500K (3.3 GHz), Socket 1155
RAM : G.Skill RipjawsX PC12800 cas8: 2 x 2 Go
GC : Carte graphique MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II/OC, 1 Go

I have ATI Home 2011 14.6868.
A backup of a partition in Windows on my external drive (on USB 3.0) takes 10 minutes.
But when booting with Acronis Boot CD, the backup takes more than 2 hours.

Sure, something wrong. I need help

Regards

The version of ATI that is running on the CD is a Linux version. It probably doesn't have the drivers to take advantage of USB 3.0 speed. If fast backups are important to you from the CD, you would have to purchase the ATI Plus Pack, so that you can create a WinPE disk. That contains the Windows drivers.

Sometimes when you launch the executable of a driver installer, it first unpacks the driver to a temporary directory then asks you whether you want to install. If you keep that dialog open, you can access the temp directory and get your .inf files.

Otherwise, you should be able to unpack the exe with a utility (google some).

The only way to run the Linux version is Acronis has to make a new bootable media with a newer kernel. All my (paid) Acronis tools crash. Parted magic Opensuse, Ubuntu etc. have no problems to start the system. See http://forum.acronis.com/forum/23374

Extract Now and Universal Extractor extract the files but nothing about inf file.

Not sure how to help you from there. I had a quick look at the files you posted a link to. It looks like the installer just put in some dll that might be replace a standard dll from Windows. You might want to check this by looking for them on your system.
If it is the case, you should be able them directly in the mounted portion of the WinPE.

I have a solution if that can help.

-uninstall ATI and PP
-install Aconis Backup and Recovery (I have version 10)
-create a vault
-extract the Renesas USB 3.0 driver files: the driver is here
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=fra&DwnldID=19880
- for recreating WinPE with Acronis, see this
http://kb.acronis.com/content/6267

I create ISO and boot with the obtained CD.
Result: 6min37sec for creating and validating the backup of partition C( partition C: about 33 Go)

So, where is the difference between B&R and ATI+PP in this workflow? That you can insert the drivers during the WinPE creation?

Does the link in your last post contain the drivers in a format different from your previous link?

Thanks for sharing.

NB> ATI cannot recover B&R images, and it is not guaranteed that B&R can recovery ATI's images. I don't know if that matters to you.

-I 've choosen B&R because the method to use WinPE and add driver was simplier for me.
-Yes the driver is packaged in one executable file and it contains inf files.
-B&R is what I want, I prefer backing up and recovering by using a boot CD; it's quicker.
If I have a little time, I'll do a backup with ATI and I'll try to recover with B&R.

I tested in one sens.
B&R can't recover ATI's images.
Both from the same company: what a pity.

This article http://wiki.aflex.ru/wiki:совместимость_файлов_резервных_копий_acronis (that is a translated of pulled 1689 article on kb site) state(d) that compatibility for ATIH 2011 and ABR10 is (was) guaranteed both ways.
